Ordering FAQ

Q. How do I purchase maps online from Map Outfitter?

A. As you view the different pages on our website and you find the maps that you are interested in, you will have the option to place items in your shopping cart. Your shopping cart is much like a cart at a supermarket in that you are free to take items out at any time until you checkout. Once you are satisfied with your selections, go to the checkout to finalize your order.

Q. How do I pay for the items I purchase?

A. Map Outfitter accepts major credit cards such as Visa, Master Card, and Discover. Additionally, you can pay with a Paypal account if you have one. Both of these methods will complete the transaction as quickly as possible, getting you your maps. Other options include sending a check or Money Order made to Map Outfitter for the exact amount due. Once we receive your payment and the funds have been verified, we can process your order.

Q. I am having trouble finding a particular map. Can you help?

A. The easiest way to find a particular map is to use the search feature. You can search the entire inventory or search by a particular publisher or state. If you still cannot find the particular map you are looking for, please contact us and we will gladly see what we can do to help you.

Q. What publishers do you carry?

A. Our list of publishers is constantly growing. To see a list of all the publishers that we carry you may want to click on 'All Publishers' on the left-hand menu.

Q. I know of another line of maps that I think you should sell - why don't you carry them?

A. We are constantly partnering with additional publishers to carry their maps. If you know of a publisher that we don't carry, then let us know and we will look into it. There are situations where we cannot carry a specific line, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Q. What kind of discounts do you offer?

A. Most of our products are discounted from 5%-15% already. Special shipping discounts, bulk discounts, and high inventory discounts can bring the price down much further. The specials box to the right-hand side of the screen and the main page will often list the current specials that we offer. Look at our Specials Page for all the details on these specials. Some specials can be combined while others cannot. Check back often because the specials do change - and sometimes quickly.

Q. I found a map on another site that has a better price than what you have - will you match it?

A. Sometimes we're able to match prices but sometimes we are not. The reality is that another site may have old titles, used maps, higher shipping costs, additional taxes, be selling at a loss, or any number of reasons. Overall, we have the lowest prices - that includes on the web, the big box stores, and your local bait shop. Please let us know if you find a lower price on the same product that we sell. We may be able to adjust our prices to compete, and sometimes we'll give you a deal just for alerting us of the price difference.

Q. How do I find maps in my area?

A. You can search by state, publisher, and keywords. Most likely you have an idea as to the surrounding towns and landmarks. The map descriptions will help you find the specific map you're looking for.

Q. Do I have to pay sales tax on the maps I buy?

A. If you live in Colorado (or if your address is in Colorado) you are responsible for sales tax. If you are outside of Colorado, then you will be charged no sales tax.

Q. Can I get a quantity discount?

A. We don't specifically have a quantity discount set up through the site, but if for some reason you are ordering a large quantity of one map, Contact us and we may be able to work something out. If you are using Map Outfitter regularly to stock your own store then we may be able to figure out a flat discount to be used all the time.

Q. Can I special order maps that you don't list on your website?

A. Yes. We have access to many more maps than you see on our site. If you are needing a specific map, we may be able to help. Contact us and we'll see what we can find.

Q. What are my shipping options?

A. We have a couple different shipping options.

Standard Shipping - We can ship most items using this method, and it keeps the costs down for our customers. We usually ship your order using the U.S. Postal Service. Our folded maps, rolled maps, and software can all be sent using this shipping method. The advantage is the price, but the disadvantage is the time it takes to ship and there is no tracking system. Published shipping times are 2-9 days but most items arrive in less than a week. We reserve the right to ship your order using a different method as long as you are assured of receiving your package in the same time and with the same benefits.

Quick Shipping - UPS ground and USPS Priority mail are our quick shippers. Most items can be shipped this way. Advantages are a quicker shipping time along with a more reasonable price than Express Shipping. Posted shipping times are 1-5 days depending on location. You have full tracking capabilities with this option. We reserve the right to ship your order using a different method as long as you are assured of receiving your package in the same time and with the same benefits.

Express Shipping - We use USPS Express Mail for Express shipments. If you need a map quickly and on a guaranteed date, this is the way to go. This option can be expensive especially for small orders, but it is the quickest. If you live in the Rocky Mountains or the mid west you may want to select UPS ground shipping due to the proximity to our warehouse (80439). You have full tracking capabilities with this option.

Overnight/Emergency Shipping - Contact us and we can find a solution that meets your needs. Rates for this will include the actual shipping costs plus any additional handling charges incurred. We reserve the right to ship your order using a different method as long as you are assured of receiving your package in the same time and with the same benefits.

Q. How much is shipping?

A. We have tried to make your shipping costs very easy to figure. We use a flat rate shipping cost depending on where you live. You simply select the shipping method.

Q. How long will my order take to get here?

A. Most of our maps we keep in stock and ready to ship. Once we receive your order and payment has been approved, handling and packaging usually takes less than 24 hours. For Items that are special orders or back orders, we have to wait for our suppliers, which can be hours or days. On most special orders and back orders, we will contact you and keep you updated as to the status of your shipment.

Q. How can I contact you?

A. Use the 'Contact Us' tab on the left-hand column. We are glad to hear from any of our customers.

Q. How will you package my order?

A. Maps are packaged using padded mailers or rigid boxes depending on the size of the package. We take special care so that you receive the maps in pristine condition. Of course, none of us can guarantee how the packages are handled once they leave our facilities, so its up to our packaging to keep the maps safe.

Q. Can I track my order?

A. If you elect to use Quick Shipping or Express Shipping, then you can track your order step by step using the UPS tracking feature. A tracking number will be sent to you soon after the package leaves our facilities. You can track your packages here or refer to the e-mail that is sent to you after your shipment.

Q. Is rush delivery available?

A. This qualifies as Overnight/Emergency Shipping. Please contact us as soon as possible so that we can help you find the best solution for you situation.

Q. When does my order ship?

A. When we receive an order, we attempt to get it shipped the same day. If the order comes in late in the day or we are receiving a high volume of orders, we will get your order out the next day. When ordering please allow one day for processing your order.

Q. Why haven't I received my order yet?

We can only guarantee our shipment as far as the shipping service. We use tracking numbers and delivery confirmation to keep track of packages in transit. If you have not received your package, you may also want to contact the shipper. Map Outfitter does not consider a package late until twice the posted time has passed. If you need help finding a package, please feel free to contact us.

Q. Does Map Outfitter ship outside the US?

A. We do not currently ship outside of the United States. If you have questions about this policy, please contact us.

Q. Do you ship to Alaska and Hawaii?

A. Yes. We ship to the continental United States, Hawaii, and Alaska. As you may already know using a shipper to send packages can be very expensive and prohibitive. You may consider using Standard Shipping to keep costs down.

Q. What if the maps arrive damaged?

Most maps are shipped with in a corrugated box or a padded mailer, but accidents do happen. Please contact us and we will see what can be done to resolve any issues with your delivery.

Q. How do I return Items?

If you have a need to return an item, please contact us first so that we can help arrange any refund or exchange that is needed.

Q. What if I get the wrong Item?

We make every effort possible to send you the correct maps the first time. Mistakes do happen however. If you receive the wrong maps, or don't receive your complete order, please contact us. If you receive a partial order, it may be because the shipment was sent in two packages. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

Q. What if I'm not satisfied with the product that I receive?

A. If there is nothing wrong with the map or software that you received but you would still like to return it, we will try to work with you to make you happy. However, we cannot always take products back - Software is especially hard for us to return to our vendors. Please contact us and we will try to work with you.

Q. Do you have a physical storefront?

A. We do not have a physical storefront. This is a major reason that we can offer substantially lower prices than our competitors. Not having a storefront means that we don't have the risk of theft or vandalism. We also don't have to devote precious working hours to running a cash register or making sales displays. Our maps are organized warehouse style to allow for efficient order processing. At this time we are not open for public walk-ins.

Q. What do you do with my personal information?

A. The information that you provide is used only for processing your order. Some of the information is used to track the use and location of the maps for future marketing. Some of the information is used by the credit card processing company to verify your identity and validate your purchase. When you place an order, we use your e-mail to notify you as your order is being shipped. We may also send you updates on specials that we are holding. If you wish to opt out of this mailing list, just let us know and we will take you off the list.

From time to time, we may use customer information for new, unanticipated uses not previously disclosed. If our information practices change at some time in the future, we will notify you on these policy changes by posting them on our Web site. If you are concerned about how your information is used, check this FAQ page periodically. You will have the ability to opt out of any new uses.

Q. Do you use cookies on this site?

A. Cookies are used on this site to run the shopping carts. This way as you move from page to page, the cart will follow you. We do not use cookies to place anything else on your computer.

Q. What will you do with my e-mail address?

A. When you place an order, we use your e-mail to notify you as your order is being shipped. We may also send you updates on specials that we are holding. If you wish to opt out of this mailing list, just let us know and we will take you off the list.

Q. Do you guarantee the accuracy of the maps you sell?

A. We do not publish any of our own maps. We cannot be responsible for the accuracy of maps by other publishers. We strive to carry only quality useful maps. We try not to carry 'gimmick' maps that wouldn't be helpful in a navigation required situation. We have put together descriptions on out website to try to help you decide if a map is right for you. We cannot guarantee the accuracy of these descriptions, they are simply a guide.
